Usually when a person learns to speak in a second language, they are using their native language’s sounds and “speech rules” of pronunciation (and often grammar) on their new language. This is what gives them an accent. They are not aware of the British set of “speech rules”. That’s because they were never taught of this sort of things in school. Their teachers probably were not native English speakers and they were not aware about such things also.

That’s a big problem because such speaking leads to misunderstanding. Poor British accent is affecting their job prospects. These repeated errors in conversation with a native speakers often cause them to be misunderstood.
